Seymour
“Hey Seymour! Come here boy! Come here!”
Sam got to his knees in the newly sprouted grass. The sun beamed down on him in his front lawn. A cool spring air ruffled his hair as he continued to stay on his knees, outstretching his hand. The grass dug into his jeans, leaving light green stains. A small beige figure lay in the shadow of his large white pine, towering over his house.
“Come on Seymour, over here!”
The small blob moved a few places and stopped. Sam looked down at the grass and brushed his fingers through it. The lawn was peppered with dozens of yellow constellations. Each star had a set of petals. Sam picked one and held it up to his face. The dandelion smelled refreshing as its pollen tickled his nose. He picked another flower and held them out towards the shadow.
“Hey Seymour! Look what I’ve got!”
The blob rushed forward into the light. Sam was greeted with a scaly creature waddling towards him. It’s set of tiny amber eyes stared eagerly at the flowers as it continued to make a beeline to Sam. Seymour came up to Sam’s hand and yanked the flowers from his fingers. The animal’s triangular head crunched the plants into a paste, almost smiling as he swallowed them. Sam stroked Seymour on the nose. Seymour took out his small tongue and licked Sam’s finger.
“Aw! Who’s my cute little beardie?”
Sam gently pet his bearded dragon’s back.
